Please join us in the LHMS Library for our first PTA meeting of the year. We will discuss events planned for the year, review the audit report from last year, and vote on our new budget. LHMS Principal, Aimee Monticchio will discuss the start of the school year and respond to parent questions.
In 2015, LHMS eliminated traditional fundraisers. We rely solely on direct donations from Hughes families and our community. PTA Panther Pride supports our mission to ensure that all of our students and teachers/staff have access to everything they need for success in the classroom, additional/new technology, school events,mini-grants and student recognition activities. The PTA activities for students (and families) include Skate Night, Homecoming Parade, Panther 5K, Student Basketball Game, Restaurant Spirit Nights, and more. We coordinate staff appreciation events throughout the year, support Spirit weeks for the whole school and recognize student accomplishments through Honor Roll and Bringing Up Grades celebrations.

It's so easy! You can find box tops on hundreds of participating products. Just clip them and drop them off in the front office. Twice a year, our school submits all its Box Tops and receives a check in return – and our school can use that money to buy anything that it needs. Learn more and find a complete list of participating products at BTFE.com.

The SLHS PTSA is sponsoring a panel discussion on this topical issue. Lyme disease is transmitted by infected deer ticks so it is more common in wooded and grassy areas. The CDC estimate that 300,000 people are diagnosed with Lyme disease in the US every year. Yet diagnosis can be difficult and many experts believe the number of cases is higher. Please join us on Thursday, October 12 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm in the Little Theater for "The ABC's of Lyme Disease," a panel led by experts from various areas, including researchers and individuals affected by the disease. Education is your best defense.
