Our principal, Aimee Monticchio will be there to discuss what’s happening in school and respond to parent questions. Last meeting, Ms. Monticchio answered questions about the plans for LHMS’s planned renovation, what the MARC system is all about, and much more.
During our next meeting on the 30th, Hannah Converse, Hughes’ IB MYP Coordinator, will speak to the PTA about the IB MYP program including its benefits, and how it impacts instruction, assessment, and student learning at Hughes. She will summarize service learning requirements and expectations, including how students can log their service hours and reflect upon what they’ve accomplished. Additionally, she will briefly explain how to keep student options open for pursuing the IB Diploma at South Lakes HS.
There’s a lot to learn. Don’t miss it.

As PTA Treasurer, your busiest times of year will be at the beginning of the school year as we process membership deposits, as well as State and National Membership Dues. This job requires approximately 8 hours per month, including attending monthly PTA meetings.
• Collaborate with the PTA President to generate the annual PTA budget.
• Prepare the annual audit and tax return.
• Pay bills and reimbursements as required.
• Oversee ongoing PTA finances, ensure adherence to approved PTA budget.
• Prepare and present budget report for each PTA board and general meeting.
• Make and record deposits
• Coordinate petty cash boxes for events
**Familiarity with QuickBooks a plus but not required!**

Students who would like to earn 5 hours of community service must bring in their 5 food items in addition to their contract and dues.

Langston Hughes Middle School is launching the ‘Food 4 Thought’ assistance program to support students in our community.
